I need to either ink with markers, print from pencils, or do the whole damn thing digitally, because I'm way too slow to keep trying to fit both pencilling and inking in one day.  It takes me usually a little less than a day to pencil a page, and like 3 hours to ink the fun parts of the page, then the intricate sucky parts take me way more time than I'd like to admit. It isn't sustainable. So, what do you guys think? If you like the marker route, what types and sizes to do you suggest? Ideally, I'd get a great line while cutting out the dipping, and cleaning. Should I go digital? What're your thoughts on pencil only pages?

Rant

PS. I liked the movie.

I am a little annoyed by everyone freaking out about Man of Steel. I feel like it wasn't perfect, but so what? It was also an amazing movie.  If the Avengers hadn't raised the bar for superhero movies, I feel people wouldn't be so hard on Man of Steel.  How many people out there LOVED Superman more than any other hero before this movie? He was never relatable, and he was always too powerful to be fun.

The Ending: I Love the ending. Period.  It felt like a real fight between two superpowered individuals who can't really hurt themselves.  It all sets up the fact that Superman, after he knows there will be no reasoning with Zod, and knowing that he is a bit out classed, he realizes that killing Zod is the only way to stop his rampage.  But what else does killing Zod mean?  At that point, Zod is the only other known Kryptonian Superman knows, by killing him, he is essentially forcing himself to be the last of his kind, and that's after destroying all of the baby eggies. That's got to be terrible for someone who just discovered who they were.  To go from, "I'm from another planet, which could be a great society," to finally learning about your people, to having to essentially destroy them, is heartbreaking. I like the fact that Superman is such a protector of this world, that he is willing to be the only one to sacrifice to protect it.  I think sometimes, when you have to break your own morals, to save others, it makes for an interesting story.  I would have been pissed if Zod ends up floating in the Phantom Zone. That would have made it all pointless.

I saw that people said that some of MoS was a lot like Invincible. I thought about that going in, and yes, I'm okay with that. Destruction would seriously happen when Kryptonians hold nothing back fighting back and forth. It's unfortunate, but come on, if Zod had beat Superman, don't you think the destruction would have been worse? Metropolis was ruined. Ok. As a friend of mine put it, "after Luthor rebuilds the city, he sure will have a good reason for hating and trying to get the world to be against Superman in the sequel." Which I think is awesome.

Clark Kent's disguise is stupid. Thank God we got around that in this movie. People complain without thinking. Yes, Clark Kent doesn't slip into a phonebooth... when was the last time you saw one of those? We can move on.

I am someone who really doesn't mind too much if things are tweaked in the movie representation.  I find it childish that fanboys complain about two and a half hours, in a different medium, not being inline with seventy five years of BIBLE. I'm pretty sure there is some contradiction in 75 years of comic books, so maybe you need to start thinking about your beloved characters as being a little bit more fluid. Superman doesn't kill, I dunno. I know there are contradictions to that, and I feel like he sacrificed everything for Earth, and that feels more like Superman than a silly rule. I always felt like Batman doesn't kill (saying nothing to the fact that he throws batarangs into people's faces). Everything they changed in MoS I was okay with. I feel that Man of Steel's Superman still read as Superman. I don't know where I read it, but this really is the Iron Man movie that ends when Superman just gets out of the cave. I can't wait to see Cavill do it again.

It's that time of the year again, where I, :iconkross29: Oprah and Tom Selleck share a birthday.  My hope is that, if you want to do something nice, you'll use our birthdays as an excuse to donate to the Alzheimer's Association.  Alzheimer's is dreadful and has affected a couple people close to me, and I hope you will lend a hand if you see fit!
If you are interested, you can hop over to their website here:

Also, there's also a 27% off sale at my art dealers for my bday.  cadencecomicart.com/artist.php…

You can finally find my artwork online for purchase through Cadence Comic Art. Check it out, and look through the other great artists' work as well.  There are more pages getting uploaded in my section because it takes me forever to get Paolo pages.  My fault, not his.  The Suicide Squad stuff should be up there shortly!
Thanks!

Suicide Squad #1 comes out today.  I did about half the art in it with Scott Hanna inking.  Check it out if you want.  Probably my last comic work for the foreseeable future.  I don't really have plans on doing more, but more on that in a soon to come journal.  Thanks!

Well, after a long long LONG wait, my last issue of Guarding the Globe comes out today.  Man, it's been a long time coming with that book as I finished it back in April.  So if you check it out, let me know what you think!

My move over to DC has been going along nicely!  Thanks to those that picked up Adventure Comics #528!  Just finished up War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath #2, and I'm excited to get that in people's hands.  Drawing those GL's was a complete blast, and drawing random GL's is a lot of fun.  It's a fun story, so give it a shot!

Solicitations for my next project are up, I'm doing work in the DCnU's Suicide Squad.  After being in space with Green aliens, it'll be fun to jump back into the real world, plus, Harley Quinn? It's going to be a blast!

Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but... not really.

As long as Guarding the Globe #5 comes out today (which is 50/50), I've got two books coming out this very Wednesday. I've been aching for you guys to get to see the pages for this issue as they've been done for a long time.  Issue 5 will be my last with GTG, but I leave it in very capable hands!  Thanks to Kirkman and crew for the great run and getting to draw all the fun characters!

That being said, I also have a couple pages in Adventure Comics 528 coming out today. Super cool that I've gotten to work for Marvel, Mr Kirkman, and now DC in my very short career.  Here is a preview of artwork in the issue I did not draw!

Super fun working for DC and though the characters were a little foreign to me, I had some fun. The next project I've been working on, has a lot of characters closer to my heart! More on that later, but if you give these books a try, let me know what you think!

This was my first time going to a show in, essentially, my backyard.  What convenience!  It was very bizarre doing the con weekend sleeping in your own bed as opposed to some hotel.  But you probably aren't reading this to hear about my compare and contrast dissection of the living situations.

The show itself was pretty fun.  High points were getting to chat with Mark Morales, and getting to sit with Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, and Nate Bellegarde (along with his fancy female partner).  Was also nice meeting James Harren and Scott Wegener (whom I apparently met last summer in an airport but we were distracted by the ridiculous uber-hipster who was sitting beside us. what shame!).  I stayed pretty busy and was surprised by some of the folks I recognized that stopped by.  High school and college people are always fun to catch up with.
However, not everything always works out smoothly.  Midway through the day, and more so after the show, I started to feel pretty terrible health-wise again.  Being sick at shows is terrible. I apologize to those that stopped by, but I had purel so calm yourselves.  Went out for Japanese in a big group, Scott was kind enough to order for my ignorant mind.  Went back to Ryan and Cliff's room and watched and aided, in Ryan getting massacred by just about everyone in the new Mortal Kombat.  Felt dreadful, called it a night. Barely remember through the sick daze the T ride and walk home.  Do remember having to share a hotel elevator ride with a transvestite prostitute.

To be honest, really wasn't feeling going in for day 2 at all.  Wasn't in the mood but seeing as how my pages were still at my table.....  my drive was already planned.  Arrived a stylish 2 and half hours late, and enjoyed a slow last day.  Said goodbyes, packed up and left.  When asked by the parking garage attendant if I was there to watch the red sox game, I replied "no." I believe this decision tacked on an extra 13$ to my bill. Ugh.

Later in my drive I sort of managed to get in an argument with a police officer.  He was acting as a traffic cop holding his hand up, to which I stopped. He then made a motion to move forward, I did. Quickly he flashed a stop signal, so I slam on the breaks.  He then again motions to move through. At this point... I've got tunnel vision of this guy's possessed traffic hand, and start to edge forward.  You can imagine my surprise when he punches the hood of my 2mph moving car and begins to yell at me.  I lower my window to apologize and explain that he was really beginning to be confusing and that it wasn't necessary to hit my car.  I got to the words "I'm.." in I'm sorry, before he cut me off with, "what do you want to hit these kids?"  How does one respond to this?  Sarcasm? "Yes, officer, it actually was one of my goals for the day."  Straight? "No officer, I did not intend to hit those kids today..."  I went with option two.  He asked me what I was thinking, and I paused to think about the ramifications of answering that I was trying to figure out how someone so incompetent was in charge of not only traffic, but of securing children's safety.  It was at this time that he accuses me of being on drugs because I look out of it and starts questioning me about which ones I'm on.  One thought comes to mind at this point.... "It is wrong that you are not allowed to say 'Fuck You' to a police officer when they act like a fucking jackass"  I tell him I'm on no illegal drugs, and he claims he doesn't believe me (still blocking the intersection while kids skip by in the longest child procession ever. Though they weren't there when I edged forward.)  I tell him "I'll pull over and you can run any drug test you want on me, but I do have a nasty case of the flu." He lets me go, I swear and cough and barely breath for the rest of the ride/day. Ass hole.

I just might be making my way to the show this weekend.  I've been under the weather but think I'll try to rally.  If I'm there, I'll have a booth next to Mr Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, and Nate Bellegarde.  Yay team Invincible universe.  Swing by and say hello.  I will have pages and might be up for doing a few sketches.

Finally!  Guarding the Globe 3 comes out today.  It seems like I did this thing forever ago! Big thanks to our inking team of :iconjonathanglapion: :iconjaxink1: and our poor letterer :iconruswooton: for having to put up with one jerk of a two page spread.  I also got to ink 6 pages myself and will be putting some pages up in a bit. Thanks for taking a look at it!

Also: My birthday is this Saturday and while I don't usually like making a fuss, this year I suppose I need to promote it.  I've decided to start a page for donations to the American Cancer Society.  You can visit the a page here: main.acsevents.org/site/TR/Eve…
Check it out, (yes I know that the 1$mill is a joke) and if you feel so inclined to give a donation, your help would definitely be going to a good cause!  It's more important now, more than ever, because I recieved news recently, of another good artist is battling some really aggressive cancer. So thanks for looking, and thanks for donating if you feel so inclined!
